Magnetic Floating Globe (10cm diameter)
This is not a trick! The globe is not hanging from an invisible thread. It is actually suspended by an impressive electronically controlled magnetic system. The magnetic head above the globe contains an electro magnet and a magnetic field sensor, and the frame base accommodates the micro-processor and the electronic control components. The magnetic field sensor records the magnetic field generated by permanent magnets in the globe sphere, and transmits this to the computer. The computer evaluates this data 16,000 times a second and controls the electronic magnets accordingly, accurately moving the globe sphere upwards or downwards. An additional, permanent magnet in the base holds the sphere safely on the frame when the suspension mechanism is switched off. This is a superb product, with a heavyweight steel frame and high quality globe - comparable to floating globes retailing for three times as much! Mains power adaptor is included.
