Porsche Boxster

Porsche Boxster

The Boxster is probably one of the best examples of a concept car that actually made it into production, to the huge delight of many Porsche fans. The concept vehicle was originally displayed at the 1993 Detroit Motor Show and it stole all the headlines. It was, after all, the first all-new Porsche for twenty years. And an affordable one to boot. The styling cues come from the Porsche Spyders and Speedsters of the 50's, carrying through the clean, uncluttered lines of those classic vehicles. The actual production vehicle differs very little from the concept: smaller wheels, an altered tail and a toned-down cockpit design being the major differences. Originally in production with a 2.5 litre engine producing 204 bhp, the 1999 model now comes with a 2.7 litre unit developing 220 bhp.
