Mercedes Benz F200
This concept from Mercedes-Benz features "drive-by-wire" technology which does away with steering wheels and pedals. Instead, steering braking and acceleration are all controlled by ergonomically-designed, aircraft-style joysticks in the central console and door recess.
Other innovations include on-board video cameras which replace wing and rear-view mirrors, hydraulic doors which swing upwards and outwards for easier access and exit, and a "windowbag" which comprises an air filled cushion which inflates along the entire length of the vehicle roof and windows to protect occupants in the event of a side impact.
The car's glass roof can be darkened or lightened at the touch of a button thanks to a sandwhich construction featuring conductive polymers between the glass layers which react to a small electric current.
