Grinnall Scorpion IV
New from Grinnall Specialist Cars for the year 200 comes this, the Scorpion IV, the most obvious change here being the addition of a fourth wheel!
Billed as a direct competitor for the likes of the Lotus 340R, the Scorpion IV is powered by a 2 litre turbocharged Fiat engine, similar to the one powering the Fiat Coupe, which produces 220 bhp and a massive 310 lbs/ft of torque at 2800 rpm. The S-IV's power to weight ratio is around 400 bhp/tonne which is enough to propel it to 60mph in around 4 seconds and take it up to a top speed of around 150 mph. There will also be a range of tuning options available for the enthusiast.
The S-IV is built around a lightweight steel spaceframe chassis designed by Neil Williams which give the vehicle exceptional handling and road-holding characteristics. Although shown above in full open top guise, the S-IV will also be available with full-weather equipment including a hard top, doors and side screens when deliveries begin in 2001.
