Vyv Evans is the Professor of Linguistics at Bangor University, UK. His research investigates the prodigious capacity of our species, Homo sapiens, to mean during the course of communication.

Vyv Evans received his PhD in Linguistics from Georgetown University in 2000, and is currently the Professor of Linguistics at Bangor University, UK.

His research investigates the prodigious capacity of our species, Homo sapiens, to mean during the course of communication.

He does this by examining the way in which our language system interfaces with our conceptual system–the human repository of concepts–during situated communication in order to creatively produce acts of meaning.

He has published over a dozen books on aspects of language, meaning, mind, imagination, and their evolution, and discuss these topics regularly in the popular written and broadcast media.
